No, I didn't mean to say that thing about the Ides of March. The Norfolk Tides, the AAA Affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, plays its home games at Harbor Park, a small stadium located overlooking the Eastern Branch of the Elizabeth River, a short distance from the city's bustling downtown business district. The Tides are the reigning champions of Minor League Baseball. In the 2023 season, the Tides posted a won ninety games (and only lost fifty-nine), a franchise record. The Tides (Champions of the International League) defeated the Oklahoma City Dodgers (Champions of the Pacific Coast League) at a game played in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Norfolk played its 2024 season opener on Friday, March 29, 2024, defeating the Durham Bulls 12 to 8 (a real defensive battle) in front of over 10,000 fans at Harbor Park. So, for now, "Beware the Tides of March."

Many people say baseball is a boring game. I prefer the description "relaxing." There's no room for political controversy or animus as you sit in the grandstand munching on peanuts and Crackerjack. Maybe we should abolish the United Nations and substitute baseball instead. Who knows?
